HOSA/Future Health Professionals

About HOSA:

Hicks High School has a very active HOSA/Future Health Care Professionals organization.  According to their Website, HOSA/Future Health Care Professionals is an “international student organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Health Science Education (HSE) Division of ACTE.  HOSA/Future Health Care Professionals’ two-fold mission is to promote career opportunities in the health care industry and to enhance the delivery of quality health care to all people.  HOSA/Future Health Care Professionals’ goal is to encourage all health science instructors and students to join and be actively involved in the HSE-HOSA Partnership.”

Even if a student isn’t interested in the healthcare field, he or she is still encouraged to join.  Students often become interested in the healthcare field after meeting the other members, as well as the professional members at the Fall and Spring conferences.  When students actively participate in HOSA/Future Health Professionals, they are afforded unique connections to colleges, hospitals, and other health-related organizations.

For more information, access the Louisiana HOSA/Future Health Professionals Website.

When can students join?

Students are encouraged to join HOSA/Future Health Care Professionals at the beginning of the school year, but if a student transfers in during the school year, he or she may join the organization.

Is there a fee to join?

There is a $20 fee to join HOSA/Future Health Professionals.  This fee goes directly to the main office in Lafayette for state and local dues.
